The Equestrian Sports Museum

Hevosopisto / The Equestrian Sports Museum

The Finnish Equestrian Sports Museum

The museum building is the atmospheric Granary of Kartanonkylä Manor from the late 1700s. The traditional Siittolanmäki has been a stable area since the 1930s, and the cultural landscape of the Loimijoki Valley surrounding the museum with its horse pastures is an idyllic sight.

The mission of the Finnish Equestrian Sports Museum is to preserve, archive, research, and publish the history of Finnish equestrian sports for the general public..

Part of the museum's exhibition is displayed at the Upseerikerho in the Oppilasruokala.

The museum building is open by appointment.
The Granary houses the archives of the Finnish Trotting Association (Suomen Hippos) and the museum's rotating exhibitions.

historiaa-kilpailukutsu

Welcome to explore the history of Finnish equestrian sports!

The exhibition at the Equestrian Sports Museum takes visitors on a journey through the world of riding and trotting over the past century. The special exhibition 'The Horse's Journey Through Independence' explores the development of the horse industry in independent Finland over decades.

Groups have the option to combine their museum visit with a meal or coffee at the nearby restaurant Oppilasruokala, which is the legendary dining hall opened in 1933 at the Cavalry Brigade Riding School. The restaurant's halls tell their own story of Siittolanmäki's history. Visitors can now also explore the highlights of the museum's art collection at the restaurant.

Guided Tours

Guided tours tailored for groups are an excellent way to explore the museum exhibition and the Siittolanmäki area. It's advisable to book the guide's services a week before the intended visit and also inform them about the nature of the group and what they would specifically like to learn about. Each group can have a customized experience tailored to their interests, whether it's about horses, history, outdoor activities, accommodation, or dining options.

It's recommended to inquire about a separate offer if you wish to include lunch or a coffee break at the nearby restaurant Oppilasruokala, which is the legendary dining hall opened in 1933 at the Cavalry Brigade Riding School. The restaurant's halls tell their own story of Siittolanmäki's history.

Get in touch, and let's create a personalized experience for you in the protected landscape of Siittolanmäki!
