The First Youngster Meeting of the Year Brought 61 Horse-and-Rider Combinations to Hevosopisto

The first Youngster Meeting of the year gathered 61 horse-and-rider combinations at Hevosopisto on February 24–25. Organized by the Finnish Warmblood Association (FWB), the training aims to strengthen the position of young horses in Finland and clarify breeding goals in Finnish horse breeding.

Youngster Meeting 2025 Brings International Expertise to Finland

Dutch top trainer Luc Steeghs was pleased with the quality of horses and riders after the training sessions. He praised the horse material and commended the riders for their excellent horsemanship.

Young FWB horse breeders also attended the event to see the results of their breeding efforts, which brought them great joy.

The training groups featured numerous offspring of stallions standing in Finland, such as Chacco Boy, Levisonn, Clintissimo, and Quarante, alongside impressive Finnish Warmblood (FWB) horses sired by international stallions like Asca Z, Stakkato Gold, Conthargos, Checkter, and Cascadello.

“It’s fantastic that the FWB Association was able to organize the Youngster Meeting training sessions again this year with an international trainer. For breeders, this is a valuable opportunity to showcase their young horses and, most importantly, train them in top-quality conditions for two full days. It was great to hear feedback on my own horses and see them alongside other young FWB horses. This event also provides a great chance to meet other breeders and exchange ideas on breeding. Overall, it’s a wonderful opportunity, and we hope it continues in the future,” commented FWB breeder Riikka Kvarnström.

The next Youngster Meeting showjumping training will take place on March 24–25.
